Picking apart what makes adaptations work and not work is one of my favorite things.

i prefer clueless to emma in almost all regards, tbh, but the lack of jane is a really big point against it, ia. mostly, for me, because jane was my favorite character in the book (i... didn't really gaf about *emma* until romola garai). but! now i also see it was a bad move to remove her for objective reasons concerning the strength of the narrative! so thank you for that review.

persuasion is my favorite austen and it gets me so pressed that it doesn't have 5778657 adaptations like p&p and emma, particularly a modern one. but at the same time, i feel like translating that one to a modern setting would be really hard on anne's character. possibly disastrous. and i love anne.
