well ijournal this was a strike against you

I love year-end retrospective surveys. This isn't even the last one I plan to do. (Slightly) Sorry!

1. Your main fandom of the year?

Math says Star Trek. (Second runner up, per math? Xena: Warrior Princess. I watched all but ten episodes of the series this year and may never actually finish.)

2. Your favourite film watched this year?

Math also says Star Trek. Lol five times in the theater, special edition dvd the day of its release.

3. Your favourite book read this year?

Unfortunately my goodreads is a total mess so I can't remember wtf I read in the first several months of the year, but in the last few, perhaps Rebel Angels by Libba Bray. I am frequently partial to second parts of trilogies, although I haven't read much of the third one yet.

4. Your favourite album or song to listen to this year?

"Just Like A Woman" covered by Charlotte Gainsbourg & Calexico; "The Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid" by the Decemberists; "Eid Ma Clack Shaw" by Bill Callahan; "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" by Beyonce; all of The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga.

5. Your favourite TV show of the year?

SCCeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ;_; Honorable mentions: Parks & Recreation, The Vampire Diaries, and Community.

6. Your favorite LJ community of the year?
[livejournal.com profile] where_no_woman WHAT UP.

7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

TVD's excellence was really unexpected. Spaced! In terms of fandom-which-is-people, tumblr.

8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

SCC's cancellation. Terminator Salvation. What Avatar turned out to be. *blames James Cameron for all three*

9. Your TV (and movie) boyfriend of the year?

Simon Pegg~ and all the other GQMFs of Star Trek.

10. Your TV girlfriend of the year?

Amy Poehler & Rashida Jones. Also, the original: Lucy Lawless.

11. Your biggest squee moment of the year?

June ninth was a day-long squee moment (never forget). The night TVD "History Repeating" aired was pretty exciting too.

12. The most missed of your old fandoms?

I miss new episodes of SCC airing and largefont capslock reacting with Rawles and Tropie and Lizzen and Marina. (SHE LOVES HIM AND HE LOVES HERRRRR). I have also, just in the last few days, been missing Office fandom - see below.

13. The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?

I always have a long list of shows to watch but none that are particularly pressing at this time. OH, but I really do want to start reading comics... someday. Like Birds of Prey and shit. Having read several Yuletide Community stories, I am looking forward to paying more attention to that fandom and hoping it can be a little like Office fandom in its heyday. I thought I was unexcited by Jeff/Annie but actually I am super excited by it? And find the age difference thing kind of totally hot? IDEK who I am anymore so it's a good thing Trek fandom made me give up all claims to my former identity.

14. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?

Oh, I am so excited for January fandom. Big Love!!!!!!!!!!! TVD!!!!!!!!!!! and Skins! (I am significantly less excited about the latter due to new promo pictures reminding me of the existence of Freddie Who is the Worst and Cook Who is Not Much Better and the likelihood that the Effy/Worst/Not Much Better triangle will continue to be a thing. barf) Oh also Make It or Break It which is lolariously bad but is home to my beloved Evil Lauren and Cute Guy in addition to my extremely unbeloved Emily Von Worst, Payson Keeler (she needs no nickname for her name is PAYSON KEELER) (lolll will she ever gymnasticize again??!?!) and The Other One.
